CHENGDU, Dec. 15 (NBD) -- China's automobile industry is embracing rapid expansion, with new energy vehicles (NEVs) as the highlight.
The "Technical Roadmap of Fuel-efficient and New-energy Vehicles" (Roadmap) released by China Automotive Engineering Institute stipulates the seven development directions of future automobile industry in China, fuel-efficient vehicles, electric vehicles (EV) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), fuel cell vehicles, intelligent network vehicles, automobile manufacturing technology, power battery and lightweight technology.
The Roadmap also predicts that sales of NEVs will accounts for over 7% of total automobile sales by 2020 and 40% by 2030.
According to disclosed information, automobile enterprises including BYD, Lifan, Chery, Chang'an and Geely are engaging in NEV manufacturing.
Experts believe that the vigorously growing NEV industry will surely drive the development of the related industries, such as the automobile aluminum industry.
