On April 9, Unitree Robotics’ latest robot R1 appeared at Alibaba Group’s Xixi Campus, attracting attention. The robot was seen “typing” an invitation on a computer, accompanied by staff, sparking speculation about upcoming collaboration.

Sources say Alibaba’s international division is preparing a new overseas expansion project, expected to launch at a mid-April event in Shenzhen. The initiative may be implemented through AliExpress, focusing on strategic partnerships with brands like Unitree.

The program aims to provide customized global expansion solutions for Chinese brands, especially those on Tmall, helping them enter overseas markets more effectively.

Unitree and Alibaba already have close ties. In June 2025, Alibaba participated as a lead investor in Unitree’s Series C funding round.
