Recently, basketball player Guo Ailun caught attention by publicly asking Jia Yueting to settle a debt online.

On April 24, Jia Yueting posted a video on social media where he was sitting in the back seat of an FF91 car. He stated, “It’s precisely because I started making cars in the United States over a decade ago that I have the ability to serve as a bridge for Chinese cars to enter the American market.”

According to Jiemian, Guo Ailun appeared in the comments section and requested repayment: “Hello, Boss Jia. The car looks good, and I’m happy for you. After you successfully sell a large number of cars, could you please settle the remaining 1.5 million yuan from the contract I had with LeEco in 2016? Thank you!”

On April 25, Jia Yueting responded to Zhou Hongyi in a video on Douyin, stating that he had guaranteed $12 billion in debt for LeEco in 2017 and has since repaid over $10 billion. He expressed that returning to his homeland as soon as possible is his greatest dream, and the day he succeeds in car-making and repays his debts will be the day he returns to China.

In the comments section of this video, Guo Ailun wrote: “Mr. Jia, I just woke up in Spain. After what I said yesterday, I saw many responses and felt it was inappropriate, so I deleted it myself. Waking up today, I didn’t expect it would lead to so much discussion. You have already contacted me about the past issue, and I believe it will be resolved soon. I hope everyone can focus on the new car. I believe FF will get better and better.”

Jia Yueting replied to this comment, saying: “Hello Ailun, thank you for your interest in my car-making. Also, when you come to the US to play basketball, you’re welcome to visit and test drive, and become a co-creator of the FF91. Take care and recover well. Basketball has always been a hobby of mine; I’m a huge fan of Kobe and a big fan of yours too. I look forward to meeting you in LA soon and growing together.”

On July 21, 2016, LeEco Sports officially announced the signing of Guo Ailun, marking the company’s first official signing of an athlete. However, Jia Yueting’s repeated setbacks in his car-making plans, along with mounting debts, severely impacted the development of other businesses under LeEco.
