Recently, EV maker Faraday Future (FF)'s lawsuit against HiPhi, the luxury EV brand under Human Horizons has attracted market attention.

On March 5, Human Horizons and Ding Lei, founder of  HiPhi, issued a statement saying that they have never infringed on LeTV and FF’s trade secrets and intellectual property rights. All HiPhi X/Z/Y models were developed by Human Horizons from scratch, independently.

The statement also said that Jia Yueting ignored the facts and maliciously slandered them, using words such as “plagiarism”, “theft”, “crime” and “shame” to deliberately smear, defame and attack Ding Lei and Human Horizons/HiPhi. Ding Lei and Human Horizons/HiPhi will file a lawsuit against Jia Yueting for infringing their reputation rights and clarify the facts.

Earlier on March 5, FF announced that FF and its Chinese subsidiary filed a lawsuit against FF’s former executive and Human Horizons founder Ding Lei in the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court of Guangdong Province, China, for trade secret infringement and unfair competition.

The company requested the court to order compensation for the corresponding losses and further requested Human Horizons to immediately stop the infringement of trade secrets related to FF 91.

Jia even says Ding Lei is a disgrace to the industry.
