NO.1 Apple’s headset Vision Pro officially goes on sale

On February 2, local time, Apple CEO Tim Cook appeared at the New York Apple retail flagship store to launch the headset device Vision Pro, and the product evaluation video became a hot topic on the internet. Cook said that Vision Pro is the most advanced consumer electronic device ever, and its revolutionary and magical user interface will redefine the way we connect, create and explore.

Commentary: Vision Pro opens up a new era of spatial computing, which is a new computing paradigm that integrates the digital world into the real world, thus achieving augmented reality.

NO.2 AI chip can use electric field instead of current to perform computation

Semron, a start-up company based in Germany, has developed a new innovative AI chip design method, using a new neural network control device “memristor” to power its 3D chip. It is reported that unlike transistors in processors, Semron’s chip uses electric field instead of current. These memristors, made of traditional semiconductor materials, can store energy and control electric field.

Commentary: This technology improves energy efficiency, reduces manufacturing costs, and makes consumer electronics products easier to run advanced AI models.

NO.3 Gene editing new therapy may cure dangerous inflammation

According to the New England Journal of Medicine, scientists at the University of Cambridge in the UK conducted the first treatment trial based on a new gene therapy using CRISPR, and 10 patients with a rare inflammatory disease called hereditary angioedema received treatment. The results showed that nine of them were almost cured.

Commentary: The experiment shows that the new gene therapy may cure dangerous inflammatory diseases.

NO.4 Lunar resource development company Interlune raises funding

Interlune, a lunar resource development company founded by former executives of Blue Origin, recently completed a $15.5 million funding round and will complete another $2 million funding round. The company’s CTO said that Interlune will be the first company to mine lunar natural resources for use on Earth, and is establishing a new efficient and responsible development method.

Commentary: NASA plans to establish a long-term human habitation point on the moon, and developing resources on the moon is an essential part of the process.

NO.5 3D printing functional brain tissue

Scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison created a 3D-printed brain tissue that can grow and function like typical brain tissue. The team used a horizontal stacking printing method to place brain cells in a softer “bio-ink” gel. The related research paper was recently published in the journal Cell Stem Cell.

Commentary: This research has important implications for further studying the brain and a series of neurodevelopmental disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
