Dec. 25 (NBD) -- Stock of China's biggest lithium battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. ("CATL", 300750.SZ) on Tuesday surged by 7.1 percent to close at 99.5 yuan (14 U.S. dollars) per share.

With a market value of nearly 219.7 billion yuan, the electric vehicle battery manufacturer passed Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics Co., Ltd. (300760.SZ) to become the most valuable company on ChiNext, a Nasdaq-style board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

National Business Daily noticed that besides CATL, other lithium battery-related stocks including VT Industrial Technology Co., Ltd. (300707.SZ), Ningbo Xusheng Auto Technology Co., Ltd. (603305.SH), and Shanghai Baolong Automotive Corp (603197.SH) on the same day also witnessed price increase at different levels.

In the views of some industry insiders, the widespread gains of CATL and other lithium battery-related stocks may have been impacted by Tesla's latest performance. Stock of the U.S. EV maker reached all-time high of 422 U.S. dollars before closing Monday at 419.22 U.S. dollars per share.

Noticeably, share prices of CATL popped 5 percent in trading on November 8 upon Reuters' report that the company might become a supplier of Tesla.
