Dec. 9 (NBD) -- Local authorities of Yantian District in south China's economic hub Shenzhen announced that telecommunication leader Huawei, insurance behemoth Ping An Insurance (Group) Co. ("Ping An") and internet giant Tencent, as a consortium, have won the bid for Yantian's smart city and "digital government" construction.

Adjacent to Shenzhen River and Hong Kong to the south, Yantian District boasts the world-class deep water port, attracts around 20 million visits annually, and houses a fleet of international enterprises.

Tencent at the press conference said that it will particularly focus on the dynamic, visualized, and big data-based supervision over smart tourism and provide a one-stop all-season tour guide, public services to help upgrade Yantian's tourism signature.

Both Ping An and Huawei stated that they will leverage their respective advantages to promote the smart city construction of Yantian District.
