"Is it a money issue?"

Dance King, aged 20+, accountant manager, finance industry

If 996 becomes the norm, I believe the company provides employees with the corresponding reward, otherwise they won't work for it for a long time.

Since you accept 996, you should accept benefits and disadvantages it brings to you at the same time. No need to complain. People can resign at any time if they could not deal with 996.

"Income, premise to discuss 996."

Nuggets aged 20+, R&D engineer, telecommunication industry

We are paid double salary when we work on Saturday. If employees prefer rest than money, they also can apply for an 8-hour-off. It is pointless to discuss 996 without consideration of employees' income.

"Salary matters."

Mary Zhang, aged 20+, financial management, healthcare service industry

"I can do 996 as long as my company raises my salary, but only if my paid vacation days are enough."

"Sorry, boss, I have a baby"

Cheng Guo, aged 20+, designer, construction industry

"I usually arrive at home at 6 pm and I would take care of and play with my baby from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. If I go off duty at 9 pm, my baby has fallen asleep. No talking with my baby 5 days a week? That would drive me crazy."

"I want to spend time with my kid."

Zhang Wan, aged 30+, translator

100%, I do not like 996. Looking back over the years, I did not earn much but missed my child's beautiful childhood. Who will compensate me and my child? There are some things that you cannot find back once you lost.

"Grateful for 897 ten years ago."

Nicolas, aged 30+, chef and restaurant owner, catering industry

Everyone is able to choose their own life path, no matter work on a 996 schedule or 965. Until now, I am grateful to myself for working 897 ten years ago.

I am also grateful to my team for working on a 596 or even 007 schedule today.

"Quality output outweighs working hours."

turbo&lau, aged 30+, CEO of Intrado Deep Advisory, consulting industry

Firstly, we should distinguish between 'social person' and 'natural person'. As a 'social person', the company will pay you for your working hours. As a 'natural person', if you spend a day with your family, they won't pay you for your time.

Quality output is more important than working overtime. And employees are human rather than several numbers whose emotions are crucial to build a healthy corporation. Simply ask them to pay and not care about their physical and mental well-being? That makes no sense.
