Oct. 24 (NBD) -- "Innovation has become the very word describing the cooperation between China and New Zealand." said Alistair Crozier, Consul-General for New Zealand in Chengdu.
On 20th October, New Zealand Consulate-General in Chengdu unveiled the schedule of 2017 New Zealand Month (10.26-11.21) on a news briefing. As one of the many supporting events, "New Zealand Innovation and Job Creation Salon" will be the starter.
New Zealand Consulate-General has established its presence in Chengdu for 3 years and has been consulted by many local startups on how to enter China's market. Alistair said that he hopes to advance cooperation between two countries on innovation front, and also to help China startups to go global.
Though with limited land area, New Zealand has been known as a world leader in farming. People there are innovative and own many advanced technologies in sectors such as animal and seed genetics, agricultural chemicals and farm machineries.
So far, New Zealand Consulate-General has cooperated with New Zealand's innovation base "Creative HQ" by sending startups in Southwest China to participate in New Zealand's "incubation programs" from time to time. Zhang Dian, vice Consul-General for New Zealand in Chengdu, told NBD that the first farming company has already completed its training. At present, they are looking for firms to participate in the fin-tech programs held by Kiwi Bank.
Zhang noted that "New Zealand Incubation Center" is supposed to be materialized next year.
In addition, Nick Gerritsen, a New Zealand-based catalyst, will be present at the "New Zealand Innovation and Job Creation Salon" at October 27 to further explore cooperation possibilities.
