China's direct investment in countries along the Belt and Road have been growing continuously since 2015, said a report jointly released by China Bond Rating Co., Ltd and Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Although investment in countries along the Belt and Road takes a small part in China's total overseas investment, yet it keeps increasing.

According to the report, China's direct investment in countries along the Belt and Road amounted to 14.53 billion U.S. dollars in 2016. China's direct investment in countries along the Belt and Road accounted to a maximum of 15.17% in China's total overseas investment since 2003.

Belt and Road investment concentrates in Southeast Asia (ASEAN), the Middle East (west Asia) and Southern Asia. Investment in the central and Eastern Europe starts from a low base but grows quickly. Industries including energy, transportation and information technology attract major part of the investment.
