ZTE, a leading mobile device maker in China, will urge the industrialization and commercialization of wireless charging technologies this year.

The company's Vice President Tian Feng made the remarks in an interview at the annual forum on cooperation between the industry, colleges, and institutes last Thursday.

The device manufacturer will also build an industry-leading autonomous driving project in the Pearl River Delta, he added.

ZTE's smart car manufacturing and R&D base is being constructed at Dingjiawan Industrial Park, Jinwan District, Zhuhai at present, as part of the company's push to make new-energy vehicles its second pillar with an output value of up to 100 billion yuan (14.5 billion U.S. dollars).

Estimated to cost 14.6 billion yuan (2.1 billion U.S. dollars), the base features a designed annual production capacity of 30,000 new-energy buses, with the first-phase capacity standing at 10,000 units.

Tian revealed that ZTE will deliver 204 electric buses to Shenzhen by the end of this month.
