CHENGDU, Feb. 27 (NBD) -- Heavily polluting vehicles, referred to as "yellow label" vehicles, will be banned from entering administrative regions of southern China's Guangzhou city starting from May 1, according to the city's draft circular concerning restrictions on highly polluting cars.

The complete ban will significantly improve the city's air quality.

According to a source with the city's environmental protection bureau, "yellow label" vehicles only account for 0.9 percent of the city's car population, standing at around 20,000 units, but cause serious air pollution.
