CHENGDU, Feb. 8 (NBD) -- Gree Electric Appliances, Inc., Zhuhai YinLong New Energy Co., Ltd., and Tianjin municipal government inked a strategic cooperation framework agreement on Monday with an aim to build Tianjin into an advanced base of intelligent electric appliances, smart equipment, new-energy batteries, and automobile industry.

Two days before the signing of the agreement, Dong Mingzhu, head of Gree Electric, said at a symposium that her company will team up with Zhuhai YinLong to foray into the automotive air conditioning segment. 

A source with Gree Electric confirmed this in an interview with NBD on Tuesday, noting that the company will produce such automotive products as moulds, electric parts, and capacitors.
