CHENGDU, Jan. 13 (NBD) -- Shanghai city will invest more than 30 billion yuan (4.35 billion US dollars) over the next three years to build itself a modern wireless city.
Chen Mingbo, director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, made the remarks at a summit forum on the development of modern wireless cities in Shanghai on Wednesday.
Yangpu and Hongkou districts of Shanghai are expected to complete 4G network optimization, offer broadband speeds of 1 gigabits district-wide, and deploy Internet of Things networks on a large scale in the senior care and urban management areas, according to a strategic framework agreement signed on Wednesday between the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization and governments of Yangpu and Hongkou districts.
