CHENGDU, Jan.6 (NBD) -- Southwest China's Chengdu announced to establish a modern industry system, with high-tech sector as the forerunner, advanced manufacturing and modern services as the backbone, and urban agriculture as the foundation, according to its economic work conference last Thursday.

As the capital city of Sichuan Province, Chengdu sets to speed up advanced manufacturing development as the major economic work target in 2017.

It's been addressed, in the planning strategy "Made in Chengdu 2025" issued last March, that Chengdu endeavors to uplift its major business revenue in manufacturing sector by 2025 to over 4 trillion yuan (582.24 billion US dollars).

Proportions of the city's strategic emerging industries and advanced manufacturing in gross industrial output value, in 2016, rise to 31% and 43% respectively, according to statistics.
