CHENGDU, Jan. 6 (NBD) -- China aims to reduce the energy consumption of per 10,000 yuan (1,456 US dollars) of GDP by 15% on the level of 2015 by 2020, capping the total energy consumption at 5 billion tons of standard coal equivalent. 

Specific energy saving and emissions reduction measures in eleven ways are set out in the comprehensive working program for energy conservation and emissions reduction during the 13th five-year plan period.

The document was released by the State Council recently.  

Measures listed are: optimizing industries and energy structure; promoting energy saving in key sectors like transportation, construction, and commerce and trade; reducing emissions of main pollutants; developing circular economy; implementing key energy-saving and emissions-reducing projects; boosting construction of supporting and service systems; improving related incentive policies; building and improving market-based mechanisms such as EPC, green product certification, and third-party environmental pollution governance; raising assessment standards; improving environmental laws and regulations; and urging the general public to live a green lifestyle.
