CHENGDU, Dec.7 (NBD) -- Data monitor Signaintell recently predicted that the sale volumes of seven Chinese TV manufacturers (Hisense, Skyworth, Konka, Haier, TCL, Changhong and LeECO) in 2016 would reach 83.60 million units, increasing 15% when compared to the volumes last year.

Conversely, Korea TV makers may find difficult to expand market as the sale volumes of TVs made in Korea predicted to fall by 3% this year. Thus, China is expected to surpass South Korea and become world's largest TV seller for the first time.

NBD learned that Chinese TV makers were predicted to maintain stable growth as the domestic demands for TVs unexpectedly surged, reaching 51.20 million units, 12.5% up on a year on year basis.

Signaintell noted that LCD TV popularized from 2008 to 2013 in China, during which Chinese government had introduced many preferential policies to help consumers to replace their CRT. 6 years has passed, those TVs need to be updated. In addition, low costs in upstream industry also help ensure TV sets supply.

“It’s a milestone for Chinese TV industry,” said Li Yaqin, vice general manager of Signaintell. The booming global TV market, and emerging markets like India and Indonesia are both important contributors. They are populous and are still early in the process of transitioning from CRT to LCD, so there is a lot of room left for market growth. Moreover, China is taking over Japan’s share after Japan brands concedes from the international market.
