Recently, a Chinese court has reportedly ruled that a woman who protested on top of a Tesla Model 3 at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show defamed the company.

The court found that the woman, identified as Ms. Li, had made false and defamatory statements about the Tesla's braking system. The court ordered Ms. Li to publicly apologize to Tesla and pay 2,000 yuan (about $300) in damages.

Tesla had originally sought 5 million yuan in damages. Tesla said that a judicial appraisal estimated that it had lost over 100 million yuan in orders and reputation due to the incident. Tesla said it plans to appeal the decision.
