Dec. 9 (NBD) -- Alipay, operated by Alibaba's fintech arm Ant Financial, announced the launch of Yuque, a document and knowledge management tool, on December 8, the day marking the 15th anniversary of the founding of the leading payment platform.

Incubated internally by Alipay's technical team in 2015, the cloud-based tool features a three-tier structure - document, knowledge base and team, conducive to the management and flowing of knowledge. Yuque, through a support program, would be made available for free to publicly-run educational institutions and non-profit organizations as well as eligible small- and medium-sized startups.

Alipay's new drive is expected to escalate the war of enterprise cloud services.

As early as 2018, tech behemoth Tencent launched its online document platform, Tencent Docs, which allows for multi-person collaboration and enables users to easily edit, create or share documents from anywhere on the go.

Software company Kingsoft has also gained a solid foothold in the segment with the introduction of the WPS+Cloud Office, which also boasts multi-person real-time collaborative editing. Other competitive players include Shimo Docs and yiqixie.com.
