Over 40,000 pieces of artwork have been submitted to a nationwide patriotic artwork selection that started in January.

Themed "My Motherland and Me," the event includes essays, photographs and short videos from writers and artists nationwide from all walks of life, including many famous ones, according to the organizer.

Some of them write essays to express their blessings for the motherland. Some photographers capture craftsmen, frontier posts and Belt and Road to record the great changes of the country. Others write novels to depict poverty alleviation in ethnic minority regions, says the organizer.

Outstanding works will be published by major media outlets afterward to create a strong atmosphere to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China.

The event is jointly organized by multiple departments including the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
