Chengdu Graphene Industry Applied Technology Research Institute has been established as the first graphene application and industrialization research institution and incubator in southwest China.

The institute focuses on the application and development of graphene. Graphene is the thinnest, hardest carbon nano-material with the best thermal and electrical conductivity in the world and is regarded as the strategic emerging material.

Graphene has been applied in various fields including flexible electronics, wearable device, touch screen, sensor thermal conductive materials and functional coatings.

The graphene reserves in Sichuan reach 36.5 million tons. The output value of Sichuan's graphene industry reached 150 million yuan (21.7 million U.S. dollars) in 2016, 150% higher than last year, and it is expected to go up to over 500 million yuan (72.5 million U.S. dollars) with an increase of 300%.
