UnionPay International has on Monday cooperated with Mauritius' ABC Banking Corporation to issue UnionPay Diamond Credit Card, the first UnionPay premium card ever issued in Africa.

The Chinese financial services corporation said in a news release that the move would further improve the UnionPay card product system in the region and provide African cardholders with quality services for both daily spending and international trips.

Founded in 2010, ABC Banking Corporation offers a comprehensive range of traditional and innovative products and services that covers deposits, lending and cards, leasing as well as trade finance and treasury products, catering for both the local and international markets.

Currently, UnionPay cards have become accepted by over 20 million POS terminals and more than 1.3 million ATMs outside of China. Meanwhile, UnionPay card has also been accepted by over 10 million online overseas merchants, such as Amazon and eBay of US, Agoda and Booking of Japan.
