CHENGDU, Feb. 9 (NBD) -- Latest figure, from State Intellectual Property Office of the P.R.C, shows that the number of invention patents reached 146.1 pieces every 10,000 persons in Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, in Southwest China's Sichuan Province, standing in front ranks of China's national hi-tech zones in 2016. 

Officials of Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone said that patent applications, in the area in 2016, totalled up to 24,833 pieces, of which invention patents were 13,087. The figures increased respectively 28.1% and 29.1% year-on-year, and takes up 25.3% and 33.2%, separately, of Chengdu's total. 

Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone saw 131 newly established international, national and industrial standards last year. The research and development work for earthquake warning system standardization was jointly carried out by Chengdu Meihuan Technology Co., Ltd. and Seismological Bureau of Chengdu, a breakthrough in the sector of the country. 

Officials expressed that the region will build tighter links with International Organization for Standardization, in 2017, and facilitate to push the local standards towards international level.
