CHENGDU, Jan. 23 (NBD) -- State Grid Corporation of China plans to build 29,000 new charging pillars this year, part of its efforts to increase the total number to 120,000 by 2020 and to further support the development of the electric vehicle industry, the company said at a press conference last Thursday. 

The company has had more than 40,000 charging pillars as of the end of 2016, with 22,000 being newly constructed last year. 

Meanwhile, State Grid pledged to deepen the electric power system reform to boost the development of new energy resources.
