CHENGDU, Jan. 11 (NBD) -- The development plan for the dairy industry 2016-2020 was released recently. 

Jointly issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Ministry of Commerce, and China Food and Drug Administration, the new regulation highlights the symbolic significance of the dairy industry in terms of food safety, agricultural modernization, and coordinated development of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries. 

The plan lists seven priorities of the dairy industry: optimizing regional development, boosting the construction of milk source bases, promoting the development of the dairy product processing industry, improving the competitiveness in the infant formula powder market, tightening the quality supervision over dairy products, driving industrial integration, and sharpening the competitive edge of local dairy companies.
