CHENGDU, Jan. 9 (NBD) -- Hebei, a province in the North China region, aims to slash steel production capacity by 31.86 million tons this year, said Governor Zhang Qingwei. 

The province will also clean up four "zombie enterprises."

Overcapacity issues in other industries will be addressed as well. Coal capacity will be cut by 7.42 million tons while cement production will be reduced by 1.1 million tons.
