CHENGDU, Dec. 28 (NBD) -- Southwestern China's Sichuan province will be able to carry out highway rescue, operate monitoring and provide public service by the usage of civil aircrafts including helicopter, according to the agreement signed by Department of Transportation of Sichuan Province’s Highway Administration and Sichuan Xiangyun General Aviation Co. Ltd. on Monday.

The 30-million-yuan (about 4.33 million US dollars) red imported rescue helicopter has a cabin space for storing rescue stretcher. With the set-up of seven parking bays in the regions including Huanglongxi and Kangding, the helicopter will be able to assist traffic polices and law enforcers in rescuing.

Sichuan highway has been expanding rapidly in recent years and an 8000km-long highway network will have been built by 2020. Due to the increasing accident rate, complicated geological and climate conditions and frequent natural hazards, there is a severe challenge for highway safety management, emergency rescue and monitor operation.
