CHENGDU, Dec.14 (NBD) -- 2016 China Robot Industry Conference is held Wednesday in Wu Hu,central China's An Hui province.

During the conference, Sun Feng, deputy director of the equipment department of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology noted that though the annual growth of robot industry is a step ahead of other industries, there are still some problems waiting to be solved.

"We are still highly reliable on imports, especially for high-end products though breakthroughs have been achieved in some key parts," said Sun. Low-level and redundant construction is still common. Some leading robot companies are thriving, but majority of them are small and not competitive. In addition, a standardized authentication system needs to be set up.

He later revealed that unified standards relating to enterprise size, product quality, R&D, after-sale services and social responsibilities of robot companies will be released soon. Except for government regulations, those companies should be self-disciplinary and innovative. That is the way out of the dilemma, he added.
