CHENGDU, Dec. 5 (NBD) -- 2016 is regarded as the year when Virtual Reality (VR) began to develop. The technology is now being widely applied in videos, education, games, shopping and other sectors, but the appeared “booming” VR industry has also been suffering a tough time.

What would VR look like at the next stage? Would it be as simple as “a phone plus a pair of glasses”?

Last week, oversea and demostic enterprises, practitioners and investors engaging in VR industry, participated in the “International Summit on AR, VR and MR” held in Beijing. A college student in a interview talked about feeling dizzy after using VR equipment for several minutes. VR enterprises admitted that they are facing problems including poor customer experience, struggling technical development and lack of uniform standards.

The VR industry in 2016 enjoys popularity yet encounters difficulties. And its future becomes increasingly blurry. In the efforts to step across the border between the virtual and the reality, practitioners, entrepreneurs and investors now tend to think rationally rather than advance rashly.
